JW Jackson

Singing country

Jackson had always sang. First in church as a a five year old that somehow just couldn't blend into the choir.   And on stage as a young guy with several bands that  he was friends with.  Jackson was age 66 when he picked up his first guitar a $75 acoustic Epiphone,  Says "Took me a month and very sore fingers just  to get three chords down. That’s when I wrote my first real song, put to paper anyway. "  Then at age 68, Jackson had a revelation! That his birth father had been a Nashville songwriter with Cedarwood Publishing. His DNA tests revealed ties to the Jackson family, and so that's the "more County sounding" (per management)  stage name he chose. “I found out my whole birth family were musicians,” he says. “Some with big fairly big connections  And my wife's birth family was too.  She had a first cousin Harold Morrison that's in the Hall of Fame played with Loretta Lynn, George Jones & Tammy Wynette, and many others.  " He says he stands on his own, but "cool history to have."

Finding a haven of talent at Roller Music Pro in Branson and at Herosong Studio, Jackson’s tracks read like a list of Country talent: Mike McAdoo on lead guitar (Mel Tillis, The Osmonds), Kent Slucher on drums (Luke Bryan), Wayne Massengale on fiddle (Roy Clark, Tanya Tucker),    Debra Paxton on backgrounds (daughter of Gary Paxton who produced and recorded Monster Mash by Bobby “Boris” Pickett, and many other hits).   Jackson says. “These folks bring my songs to life. Mike McAdoo plays on many of my tracks, and Jonathon Black’s (Belmont Grad) keyboards are just magical.”

A standout collaboration was provided by Herosong Studios, a charity supporting law enforcement and military. Jackson’s charity song Brave Blue Shields lent Kent Slucher on drums (Luke Bryan), Jake Clayton on strings (Tanya Tucker) and harmonica Hall of Fame legend Charlie McCoy, who had worked with Jackson’s birth father decades earlier.

Jackson recently had acclaim from a Josie Music Awards Nomination for song's Video "Our Flag Flies In Dover" , Tennessee Songwriters Association International Nomination, and has had that nominated song "Bent Rusty Nail" hit #1 on the European Academy of Country Music Chart. As well as another "You Still Bend My Roots" currently climbing the chart in November of 2025.
